An heirloom quality gift for the 50th that will be cherished for years to come. We found a century old tree and crafted a pen that features 100 annual rings. Each of the annual rings represents one year of the tree's life. The year 1972 is engraved on the pen at the corresponding year to commemorate this milestone year.
In the words of Herman Hesse "one can read its whole history in the luminous inscribed disk of its trunk: in the rings of its years, its scars, all the struggle, all the suffering, all the sickness, all the happiness and prosperity stand truly written, the narrow years and the luxurious years, the attacks withstood, the storms endured."
The Douglas-fir tree used to make this pen had sprouted in Western Montana in the late 1800's. The first year of the tree’s chronology is also included on the pen. In 2022 the tree was harvested as part of a forest restoration project. See restoration photo below pen photo.
This pen features a magnetic cap, and is made of high quality components. It comes with a premium rollerball cartridge from Franklin Christoph. The pen also comes with a beautiful wooden case for displaying both the pen and the information card describing the tree ring/natural history and forest restoration.
Each pen is one-of-a-kind, and will vary in origin date and grain pattern.
Pen is available as rollerball or fountain pen.
